This
book was about discovering life by living without any rules. Sal and
Dean go on a road trip across America to Mexico and back. They are in
search of experiences to write about, and the stories of stolen cars,
strange hitchhikers, odd jobs, wives, women and children are
based on the real life experiences of Kerouac and his pal Neal Cassady.
Their indulgence in drugs and alcohol along the way could have
contributed to the rambling yet creative spew of words that tell their
story. They were definitely mad for life and had one wild trip.
